From My Kitchen, to My Mission

The summer just before my daughter's senior year was when my journey began. I was overwhelmed by everything we needed to do as my daughter began the college application process. From understanding the Common App, Naviance and FAFSA, to the CSS Profile, I knew I had to figure it out…fast!

So I dove in. I attended financial aid workshops, webinars, and listened to experts, and discovered smart strategies for finding local and less competitive scholarships.​ After a conversation with my daughter, I realized so many students are just as confused as I was, and they don't have the support they need to navigate the process. I invited her friends over and took them step-by-step through the application process from setting up their Common App, writing essays, to requesting recommendation letters.

What started at my kitchen table—helping my daughter’s friends

through the college application process, quickly grew into my mission.

Before long, I became the go-to for friends with questions, and families trying to navigate the complexities of preparing for college and discovering scholarships to pay for it.

ZOCKA Scholars was born out of that experience, inspired by my kids and the countless students and families who need someone in their corner.​​​​​ Parents are busy with limited time to dedicate to this process.
